Boone Style Lady's Spurs

$3,500.00

This is a hand-forged set of one-piece lady’s spurs. Each spur was drawn out and taper forged with my hammer and anvil to the correct dimension from a pair of railroad spikes.

The shank was cut and filed by hand to the appropriate shape. I built a graver tool from a worn out round file and engraved the shank and heel bands on the inside of the spur. The outside heel bands and shank are inlayed with silver from a silver eagle flattened on my anvil. I chiseled out the steel from the spur with a chisel made from a round chainsaw file. I shaped the heel bands to fit a size 7½ lady’s cowboy boot. The heel buttons I forged out and engraved from 3/8 round stock. The outside buttons I chiseled out and inlayed with silver.

The 1-inch 8-point rowel were forged to a 3/16-inch thickness from flat spring steel off a Ford pickup by my sons- Each point was then cut, and hand-filed to shape. A 6-inch flat mill file was cut, reshaped, and hardened to file the rings around the circumference in the middle of each point of the rowel. The rowel was quenched in oil and then tempered. The spur shank was cut and filed to accept the rowel. The rowel pin was scalloped by hand with a round file and threaded on the inside end to accept a small, scalloped nut which I made.

The vintage style hand-cut floral pattern leather spur straps were built by Cowboy Hall of Fame saddle maker Bill Allison and have his stamp on the straps.

This set of lady’s spurs has the "Law" name stamped on the inside of each spur heel band. The detail in the creation of these spurs and spur straps has been added for perspective buyers to understand the many hours of hand labor involved in creating a one-of-a-kind piece of western art. These spurs are humbly styled after the great Texas spur maker, Bob Boone, who built his spurs one at a time by hand.
